what’s the CSSDK for?

What’s in a name?

CSSDK stands for Content Services Software Development Kit. As its name suggests, it’s a programming API that allows you to create your own applications and make them connect to TeamSite and do stuff on your content managed files. Indeed, even the TeamSite Content Center is built on this API so anything you can do in the web interface can be done in your own application. Brilliant.

How does it work?

It’s nothing more than a set of exposed APIs and remote interfaces so you can use web services to do remote things or most common, you do things locally on the server by extending what came out of the box. For example, the workflow Modeler tool uses the web services to save, publish and retrieve workflows to and from the server. Those workflows, in turn, use local connections to the server to do the stuff you need doing.

Where is it?

If you go to the installation directory of teamsite, you will find the cssdk subdirectory, This is where it lives. In there reside a few jar files that should be added to the classpath of the application you will have to build.
